Our philosophy is to both empower and emotionally support residents in a manner that provides a bridge between foster care and becoming independent.  For years, adolescents aging out of foster care have had significant challenges in successfully transitioning to adulthood.  LDS recognizes that without appropriate services, training, planning and support, these youth showed higher rates of homelessness, unemployment, lack of education, substance abuse and delinquent or criminal behaviors.  LDS provides housing assistance in order to give residents a chance to obtain the education, life skills training, employment and counseling needed to be self-sufficient and successful in their adult lives.

LDS is dedicated to providing the needed services around achieving six outcome measures that serve as LDS’ framework to increase our youth’s successful transition from foster care to self-sufficiency.
